There are only a few days left to donate toys and games for the Woods Local Community Christmas Toy Drive before the event on Saturday, where parents most feeling the squeeze on their finances can choose toys to gift to their children this Christmas.

Designed to help bring a little joy to local children and their families, the deadline for donating is this Friday.

Woods Estate Agents & Auctioneers is appealing to families who have new or good used condition toys, games, fancy dress items or electronics suitable for all ages, from toddler to teens, that they no longer need or want, to donate them to the Christmas Toy Drive. Items can be dropped into any of the Woods offices in Chudleigh, Bovey Tracey, Totnes, Kingsteignton or Preston, Paignton on or before Friday 2nd December.

At 9:30am on Saturday 3rd December, Kingskerswell Parish Church will open its doors for the Christmas Toy Drive. Parents most affected by the current cost of living crisis are invited to go along, browse the selection of pre-loved toys and take items to gift to their children this Christmas.

There will be no charge for the toys, but anyone who wishes to make a donation can do so – all funds raised will be spent on food for THAT (Teignbridge Homeless Action Today), the local food bank. Any toys left over will be given to Kingskerswell Action Group, which exists to improve the quality of life for its residents and has a charity shop at Coles Lane Gardens.

Sarah Thomas, Distinctive Homes Coordinator at Woods, said: “It has been reported that most people in the UK will be cutting back on spending this Christmas and that nearly 20% of families are considering cancelling Christmas altogether because of the spiralling cost of living. We wanted to do something to help families within our community, but we can’t do it without help from others, so all donations will be gratefully received. This time of year can be a financial strain for parents in any case, new toys are costly and we feel sad that some are forced to make choices they shouldn’t have to make. We hope the event will go part way to helping alleviate some of the pressure and making Christmas that little more enjoyable.”

Toy donations can be taken into any Woods office before the end of the day on Friday. The Christmas Toy Drive will be held at Kingskerswell Parish Church from 9:30am till 3pm on Saturday. For further information, contact Sarah at Woods in Preston on 01803 390000 or at sarah@woodshomes.co.uk.
